Shared Vision: Jesuit Spirit in Education - Part 1: Beginnings

$31.50

These videocassettes, produced at Saint Louis University, tell of the 450-year history and vision of Jesuit education, as it began in Europe, developed throughout the world, and reached a particular application in the United States.

Part One, Beginnings, begins with a group of students at the University of Paris in the sixteenth century; their commitment to remain together would lead to the founding of the Society of Jesus. That commitment grew out of the Spiritual Exercises, which contain the fruit of St. Ignatius of Loyola's own conversion and mystical prayer experiences. Beginnings explains the roots of a spirituality that gives identity and direction to Jesuit schools. It shows how that spirituality guided the first companions and how it can still inspire and guide those who teach and work in Jesuit schools today.
