Ars Jesuitica

This CD-ROM presents some 239 images of Jesuitica, some in color, some in black and white. It is divided into five sections: (i) St.lgnatius: Portraits and Scenes; (ii) The Life of St. lgnatius; (iii) Jesuits; (iv) Landscapes and Building; (v) Emblems, Art and Artifacts. In the St. lgnatius section, we find, among other things, apicture of lgnatius' portrat by deRibera (ca. 1622), another by Jacopino del Conte, another by Andrea Pozzo(1680);pictures of lgnatius holding the light of Christ over the world; the young lgnatius, lgnatius in a chasuble, holding a book, etc. In the "Jesuits" section, we find images of St. Francis Xavier, Blessed Peter Favre, St. Robert Bellarmine, St. Edmund Campion, St. Aloysius Gonzaga, St.Peter Canisius, and many others. Section (v) provides numerous "IHS" emblems, images of the Madonna della Scrivania (c. 1400), from the Rooms of Ignatius, Rome; a Byzantine icon from Ignatius's Rooms in Rome, and so on and on.
